Sukiyaki at Home
We discovered this new food delivery service through our friends E and J who posted very nice pictures of their products the other day. These days we are eating at home more often than ever and obviously we are always on the look-out for any decent place that could save us the trouble of having to prep everything by ourselves all the time.

Japanese Buffet Lunch
Not wanting to feel like we were stuck in one building all weekend long, we did venture out to eat during our "Central vacation". It's been a long while since we last ate at Kaetsu, the Japanese restaurant at the Grand Hyatt so we made a booking for their popular buffet lunch on Saturday afternoon.

Hida Beef Craze
As we traveled through the mountainous area of Gifu Prefecture, one thing we couldn’t miss was the sight of restaurants serving the famous Hida-gyu, the local beef breed from the black haired cattle known for its taste and excellent meat texture and also one of the most coveted wagyu types.

Sukiyaki at the Counter
It’s my fault that I had to rush across the harbor to make my 6:30pm reservation at Sukiyaki Mori, but I was glad I made it right on time (okay, I was more like 15 minutes late) at the doorstep of this new restaurant at the junction of Elgin and Hollywood. I couldn’t recall any other restaurant specializes in sukiyaki in town, and being meat lovers as ourselves, we were eager to check it out.

Sukiyaki at Mishima-tei
I knew the only chance I could get a table at Mishima-tei, the Kyoto
restaurant specialized in beef dishes, without a reservation was to go
for an early lunch just when the restaurant opens, so I did exactly
that. We have been here for dinner previously and loved their food and
the whole experience of dining inside the old building, and my sudden craving for beef brought me back
here last month when I was in town again.
