Celebrating Le French GourMay

When it comes to a place to chill after work, or for a casual late evening nightcap without loading up for a full-blown meal, Caprice Bar is certainly the one on top of our "to-go" list. Not so much of "the best kept secret" anymore, as it's often packed, this place at the Four Seasons offered consistent snack and small bites in a luxurious yet cozy environment, while turning down a notch from the formal dining experience at the proper restaurant next door. Of course, needless to say it also offered one of the best cheese selections in town - something we always order every time we are there.

Le French GourMay Tasting at Whisk

I have to admit - in the past I didn't consider Whisk at The Mira seriously when I looked for a fancy night out. True we have had good experiences at their Sunday brunch quite a few times (including once at the hotel's invitation - in the interest of full disclosure), but somehow that never transpired into the desire to come for dinner. Maybe subconsciously we just never bothered to cross to the "dark side" (a euphemism for Kowloon by us people living on the Island side) for a special occasion unless we must. So I was quite delighted when their PR team asked me to join their Le French GourMay tasting, since otherwise I probably would have never tried.

Asking too much? Evening at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon

We headed off to L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon at Landmark for dinner for only the second time (since it first opened). Well I know it's been awarded 3 stars in Michelin Guide, called the best in Asia by Miele etc etc, but our last visit a few years back was downright horrible in everything you can imagine that we just didn't bother to return afterwards. Well we had similar experiences with other restaurants in town in the beginning only to realize afterwards that those places have made significant improvement since then, so we decided to give it a second chance and hope it would prove ourselves wrong.
