Canto x Chiuchow
I was a Ming Court Wanchai a couple of weeks for the special collaboration event featuring the dishes created by their Chef Tsang Chiu King and guest chef Cheung Yat Fung from Beijing's Michelin 3-starred Chao Shang Chao Restaurant.

Boss' Supper Place
We were looking for a place for late supper after concert in Guangzhou and I remembered a place called "Tao Gie Mie Zhou" 頭家夜粥 (pronunciation in Chiuchow dialect) that a few friends were raving about recently, so we decided to pay an impromptu visit.

Clubhouse Dinner Ep 2 - Private Chiuchow Kitchen
"The Hong Kong Chinese Importers and Exporters Association" was not exactly the type of sign you expect outside a restaurant, but that's where we were eating the other night at the clubhouse of this old trade union (still in operation, by the way). There were actually a few similar places around the area, with the clubhouse restaurants serving decent food to members and guests alike, and for this, their specialty is Chiuchow cuisine.

Late Night and Early Morning
There’s no better time to check out a few spots in Mongkok that open in odd hours – either late night or early morning – while “staycationing” in the neighborhood. In the area “that never sleeps”, there are plenty of those and here are two of my favorites.

Chiuchow Dimsum Lunch
Not until I arrived at the door of Chiu Tang, the new Chiuchow restaurant in Central, for a Saturday lunch tasting did I realize Island Tang has shut for good and Chiu Tang actually took up its place. From my distant memory I think Island Tang was quite decent, so the closure was a surprise to me, but then I have heard good things about the original Chiu Tang branch in Wanchai and I was curious how this new branch will fare with a more central location.

Home-style Chiuchow
A flurry of whatsapp messages later on a Sunday some friends and we gathered for dinner at Lok Hau Fook in Kowloon City, an old-school restaurant specializing in Chiuchow dishes, which is a branch of Cantonese cuisine rooted from the once-prosperous town of Chiuchow, or Teochew as pronounced in the local dialect.
