We met up with some friends at Upper Modern Bistro a few Sundays ago before they embarked on the month-long summer vacation. We came across the restaurant's FB posts about their cheese promotion on weekends and thought the offer to tap into one of our favorite cheese collections in town at such price was something we don't want to miss.

Sunday Brunch in Poho
We were in the Poho neighborhood for an outdoor concert on Sunday afternoon in mid-June, and before that, we stopped by Upper Modern Bistro just a couple blocks away for their weekend brunch. We have not been back there for a while – not so much because of our not-so-pleasant experience last time but more because we often opted for On Dining in Central under the same management – but I am interested to see how they have kept up after losing their lone Michelin star last year.

The Mis-calculating Upper Modern Bistro
We dropped by Upper Modern Bistro in early July for a casual weekend brunch with friends. Charlotte and I enjoyed a good meal the first time we were here a couple months back, so we decided to come back again, especially knowing Jeremy Evrard, the former manager at Caprice has joined recently to lead the front of the house team with his excellent cheese selections now available on their menu.
Normally I would love to spend the next 200 words exclaiming and praising the excellent food we had, from the cold gazpacho soup to the 63-degree egg with toast and belotta ham and the icecream "sandwich" dessert. They were all neatly constructed and stunningly delicious. And OMG - the cheeses that Jeremy has selected for us were so sumptuous that it's heavenly. It does seem to be a perfect place to spend a lazy weekend afternoon. Too bad that's not the end of the story...
