New Faces

Other than the new faces, with chefs Gaurav Kuthari and Dhiraj Kumar now taking charge of the kitchen, nothing much has changed at Chaat when we went for dinner a few weeks back. The place was still crowded as ever – many dubbed this the hardest restaurant to get a table at this side of the harbor.

Indian Dinner for Six

While I was kind of proud of myself being able to get a table booked at CHAAT a few months ago, this time I did get some help from Chef Manav for our family dinner for 6 people at the end of April which also doubled as an informal birthday celebration for our nephew N. And we also troubled Chef Manav for a few new dishes apart from what's normally available on their a la carte menu, and gosh, we got much more than what we asked for.

Dining In

We are spoiled with choices for places to eat at The Rosewood Hong Kong and needless to say, we were well-fed during our 2-night stay at the property.

Club at the Top

One of the places we spent quite a bit of time at The Rosewood Hong Kong during our staycation weekend was the Manor Club, their version of the Executive Lounge. Taking up half of the top floor on Level 40, the lounge unarguably offered the best view from its terrace that stretches the harbor-side. No wonder it did feel like half of the hotel guests were there hanging out at the terrace to watch the sunset.

Rosy Staycation

With everyone still grounded and likely got nowhere to go through the long summer, we made amend by planning a weekend getaway a few weeks ago at The Rosewood – at least we got to travel across the harbor when travel across the ocean was not an option. Not my first time in the hotel – I was there for dinner at their steakhouse Henry a few months ago – but staying over the weekend let me explore a lot more of the property, its facilities and surroundings.

New Smokehouse in Town

I came to Henry at Rosewood Hong Kong with a lot of expectations when I was invited for a dinner tasting there just a few weeks ago.. A proper steakhouse was few and far between in Hong Kong, especially if I started counting out those with style but no substance. With the hotel owner eager to please and spare no expense in doing so, and with Chef Nate Green, which came with a reputation for being a grill expert from his days at Rhoda, at the helm, there's every reason to be hopeful.

For Wellness' Sake

At first I wasn't quite sure about Asaya Kitchen at the new Rosewood Hong Kong when I received an invitation for a dinner tasting recently. With its emphasis on "wellness gastronomy" or "health-conscious fare", it sounded like the menu would be filled with just avocado, quinoa and Brussels sprouts (obviously not my BFF ingredients). But I figure it wouldn't hurt giving it a shot before passing the judgment.
